Spike Chunsoft first revealed nirvanA Initiative in late June 2021. It published a teaser trailer showcasing Mizuki as a Special Agent and the new protagonist in this sequel. The company also announced that the Collector’s Edition will come with a Pop Up Parade figure of Aiba.

Mizuki will follow the steps of Kaname Date, the previous protagonist in the original AI: The Somnium Files. As a new Special Agent, she will investigate a bizarre serial murder where the victims were cut in half, and one of the halves was preserved for years.

AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative will release for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC worldwide in Spring 2022. The game will also be playable on PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility.
