Izanagi Games announced that Yurukill The Calumniation Games will now release in 2021, missing its original 2020 target. The bad news comes with some good, as the title will now launch on the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch in addition to the initially planned PlayStation 4 and PC versions.
The developers describe Yurukill The Calumniation Games as “an escape adventure and bullet hell shoot ’em up.” Izanagi Games expanded the scope of the project, which led to the game’s delay. Initially planned for just PlayStation 4 and Steam while targeting a 2020 release, now more players will be able to experience the dark and unique title–though at a later date.
In the game, the player will take control of Sengoku Shunju who wakes up in a prison cell, claiming they have been falsely accused. Players will have to survive the various “attractions” in a twisted amusement park setting in order to receive pardons for their crimes. The abandoned amusement park is aptly titled Yurukill Land.
The staff behind Yurukill: The Calumniation Game features a plethora of talent. Homura Kawamoto of Kakegurui – Compulsive Gambler fame is writing the story. Hiro Kiyohara, known for Valkyria Revolution‘s character design, is also designing Yurukill‘s characters. Yuko Komiyama, who worked on the Monster Hunter series, will compose the music. Finally, the developers of Mamorukun Curse, G.rev Ltd., are developing the shoot ’em up elements. Additionally, Izanagi Games even had a hand in the development of Death Come True and World’s End Club.
Yurukill The Calumniation Games will release in 2021 on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam.
