Yuji Naka On Prope’s Status: Downsized To One-Person Company

A few days ago, we posted an article on some of the happenings around Prope, and its seeming disappearance in April 2017, despite a still-ongoing mobile game called Buddy Monster. Following up on this, Siliconera took to Twitter to directly ask Yuji Naka about Prope, and today he gave his first public answer regarding the company that developed Rodea the Sky Soldier, Ivy the Kiwi, Digimon Adventure (PSP), and more.

 

Here are his Tweets and our translations below:

 

“I was asked this and as my reply, Prope in April 2017 underwent a downsizing and became a one-man company. Buddy Monster,  which reaches its seventh year in June this year, is being taken care of by the company running the game. If it’s alright with you, it would make me happy if you were to play Prope’s apps and 3DS’ Streetpass Mii Plaza’s Monster Mansion and Ultimate Angler; and the game which I helped program partially for the first time in around 20 years-“

At its core, my work at Prope is pretty much just writing up paperwork and related things during Saturday and Sunday. On regular work days, I’m making games that I hope people will enjoy with everyone at Square Enix.”
