Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Introduces New Monstrum Bull, Puppet, And Apostate

The latest Dengeki PlayStation has revealed two new characters coming to Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, named Bull and Puppet respectively. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089!]

Bull (CV: Ayane Sakura)

Combat style: War hammer

The pink-haired person with an upbeat personality, and is the moodmaker of the group. Bull is not only strong but also has cute points.

As you might expect, her attacks lack speed, but by swinging her war hammer around they are able to attack enemies all around them.

Her Monstrum ability is called “Valkyrie Hammer”, where she charges her power to break down walls in order to progress. Breakable walls are shown in an easy to understand manner. Her ability can also be used to break enemy guard as well.

Puppet (CV: Aina Suzuki)

Combat style: Sweep sword & Wired Sickle

The Monstrum wearing a white hat. One important point to note about her is whether she’s a puppet or a Monstrum is a secret.

With her weapon she can cover a wide range and deal consecutive attacks. Her running animation is a roller dash that makes for fun movement regardless of elevation differences.

Her Monstrum ability is “The Third Eye”, which makes usually unviewable things viewable, such as switches and treasure. It works regardless of elevation differences. One downside is that “you might see too much”.

Apostate (CV: Hiro Shimono)

The person at the very bottom of the artwork. Many people expected him to be female, but no, he’s male. He’s a mature person despite being young. Despite holding a staff, he’s a shooter-type character.

His Monstrum ability is “Shadow Dive”, where he turns into a shadow that can go through tight spaces, hide from enemies, and more.

Additionally, the voice actors for the other characters have been revealed:

  • Adol: Yuki Kaji
  • Dogi: Kenta Miyake
  • Hawk: Kaito Ishikawa
  • White Cat: Mikako Komatsu

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox releases for PlayStation 4 in Japan on September 26, 2019.
