DelightWorks announced that it will appoint the former Street Fighter executive producer Yoshinori Ono as its president and COO starting from May 1, 2021. The company founder and president Akihito Shoji, will become the chairman and CEO on the same day. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
Yoshinori Ono joined Capcom in 1998. He started his career in the company as a sound producer and composer for the first 7 years until 2001. After working as an assistant producer for Onimusha 2 in 2002, Ono started his producer career with the 2003 PlayStation 2 title Chaos Legion. He also became the face of the Street Fighter series after producing Street Fighter IV in 2008.
In August 2020, Yoshinori Ono announced his departure from Capcom. He officially left the company in September 2020. On April 17, 2021, ten days before this announcement, Ono visited his former company to announce his new job. In his latest tweets, he stated his expectations further growth at DelightWorks, as he will oversee game development from a new perspective.
DelightWorks is most known for developing the famous mobile game Fate/Grand Order. It also worked with Sega to release Sakura Revolution, which is scheduled to be shut down on June 30, 2021. Additionally DelightWorks will also enter the console game scene by publishing the fighting game Melty Blood: Type Lumina for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch simultaneously worldwide in 2021.
