I didn’t expect the Asia Game Show to have any spectacles to see. Set your expectations low and you won’t be disappointed right? I was unprepared, absolutely unprepared, when I walked into the show and saw Yoshinori Kitase, the Executive Producer of Dissidia: Final Fantasy, promoting the game at the event. This was almost like a mini-launch for Dissidia since it just came out yesterday in Japan and Asia.

Kitase-san explained the mechanics and features of Dissidia: Final Fantasy in Japanese which was promptly translated into Chinese for the mostly press filled audience. After talking about ad-hoc play Kitase-san demonstrated Dissidia: Final Fantasy by playing it. And yes, we got videos of the Executive Producer playing his own game. In the first clip he fights a computer opponent as Cloud. In the second he is in an ad-hoc battle controlling Sephiroth. Don’t mind the colors the projector was off.

What would a Dissidia: Final Fantasy event be without Cloud and Sephiroth cosplayers?

The announcer said they were ready to give out Dissidia: Final Fantasy posters to some people in the audience. To win one you had to play rocks-paper-scissors with Kitase-san and the rest of the audience. If you beat Kitase-san you moved up to the next round and when the numbers dwindled down to ten they started handing out signed Dissidia: Final Fantasy posters.

This was the grand prize, a large Dissidia: Final Fantasy poster which is one of the ads in Shinjuku Station.

These were the still awesome “second prize” posters.

I didn’t win a poster. :(
