Atlus shared commentary from Chiwa Saito, who voiced Yoko in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (SMT V: Vengeance). Past interviews included ones with Lynn and Saori Hayami.
Here is a translation of what Saito said about her character and the game:
“Yoko is a girl who seems like she’s accepted and is resigned to her situation, but she’s going through a lot of anxiety in her own way. I performed her lines hoping that I could express her inner thoughts.
I was in a Persona game in the past, so I was happy that they [Atlus] reached out to me again. Personally, I have a bit of a sad memory with Persona. My little brother, who’s six years younger than me, once told me, “Chiwa-chan, you suck so you’re not allowed to play!” while he as playing Persona and didn’t give me the controller lol.
Humans (angels and demons too) are so complicated because depending on how you look at a situation, you can see a lot of different circumstances or forms of justice. The story really made me ponder on that. It’s one that teaches you how important it is to imagine yourself in someone else’s shoes and show them consideration. I hope you enjoy it!”
Aside from voicing Yoko Hiromine in SMT V, Chiwa Saito also voiced Metis in Persona 3 FES, Senjougahara in the Monogatari series, and Homura in Puella Magi Madoka Magica. She also voiced several different characters in the Fate series, as she portrayed Chloe and all of the iterations of Tamamo no Mae.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance will come out on June 14, 2024 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.
