Yakuza: Like a Dragon Explains The Bodyguard And Host Job Classes, And Action Commands

We’ve seen the Bodyguard and Host job classes in demos and gameplay footage for Yakuza: Like a Dragon in the past, and yesterday Sega released more information on what their characteristics are like, as well as the returning action command quicktime events. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

Bodyguard

An offence-oriented job which uses blades as its main weapon. With the job’s attacks, you have a percentage chance of afflicting the enemy with the Bleed status which makes them lose health over time.

Host

A trickster class wielding a bottle of champagne as its main weapon. You can use Freeze type attacks by spraying enemies with ice-cold champagne, support your allies with a rousing speech, or seduce the enemy with your charisma.

Freeze type attacks can give enemies the Cold status, which deals extra damage every turn. If other enemies are nearby, the Cold status can be spread like an infection.

Kiwami Attacks

Attacks are split into Normal and Kiwami attacks, the latter of which are skills that use MP. Kiwami Attacks differ by job.

Action Commands

Many of the Kiwami attacks will require you to press certain buttons at the right timing, like Heat Actions in previous games. These include button mashing or pressing buttons at the right timing. By correctly performing it you can deal massive damage.

Here are some screenshots of action command Kiwami attacks:

New techniques

There are some new techniques usable in this game, such as extra damage by sending enemies flying into other enemies, or using the environment to deal extra damage, like getting enemies hit by passing vehicles.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be released on the PlayStation 4 in Japan on January 16, 2020, and in North America and Europe in 2020. Check out pre-order costumes that make Kasuga look like Kiryu and Majima here.
