Kiwami is a remake of the first Yakuza game, also known as the Ryu Ga Gotoku or Like a Dragon series, and it originally released in Japan back in 2016. The new Switch version looks to preserve all the features new and old, like the four different fighting styles, improvised weaponry, and Majima Everywhere system. The trailer also emphasized the game’s well-known side stories and minigames, including baseball and Mahjong, or bonding with Kiryu’s adoptive daughter Haruka.

Back in June, 2024, the entire Yakuza series for PC arrived on GOG’s store, without any DRM packaged with it. Meanwhile, earlier this month the iconic song Baka Mitai received a vinyl release, sung by Kiryu’s voice actor Takaya Kuroda.

Yakuza Kiwami will be the first Like a Dragon game on the Nintendo Switch on October 24, 2024. The game is already available on PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
