We’re one step closer to learning the Xbox Series X release date. Microsoft confirmed the system will launch in November 2020, following the sudden announcement that Halo Infinite would be delayed until 2021. This will be a global launch window.
Microsoft’s update also confirmed some of the Xbox Series X games that will be playable in 2020. In its announcement, it noted there will be “more than 50 new games planned for this year.” Some of these have been confirmed recently at events or via Xbox One update confirmations. For example, Yakuza: Like a Dragon was confirmed a while back for a November 2020 release on the Xbox Series X. Overcooked: All You Can Eat will appear this year too. So will Tetris Effect Connected. Microsoft’s announcement also mentioned Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Gears Tactics, and Watch Dogs Legion.
The Xbox Series X release window announcement also brought up its backwards compatibility and “optimized for Xbox Series X titles.” With backwards compatibility, Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One games will be playable on the system. As for the optimized titles, the announcement said over 100 will be available in 2020.
This confirmation didn’t mention anything about a recent rumor. Xbox Series X controllers have apparently been showing up in the wild and mention an Xbox Series S model on their boxes.
The Xbox Series X release date will fall in November 2020. It will be compatible with all Xbox One controllers.
