Wipeout 2048 For NGP Compatible With PS3’s Wipeout HD Fury For Multiplayer

The upcoming Wipeout game in development for the NGP isn’t a port of an older title, says the game’s director, Stu Tilley. Titled Wipeout 2048, it’s a new game with 10 new tracks and 20 new ships, and is built specifically for the NGP.

Wipeout 2048 will have three control modes: touch and tilt control, the classic Wipeout controls, and a new control configuration called “Racer” that’s meant to ease newcomers into the game. The game will also have voice-activated features, although, whether or not these are related to the “Racer” configuration is unknown.

It also has an amusing “glory moment” feature. When you’re playing against other people, at the end of a race, the victor’s NGP camera will take a still photo or video of them and send it to all the other players, to allow for a bit of gloating.

Finally, Wipeout 2048 will also be compatible with Wipeout HD Fury on the PlayStation 3 for cross-platform play. Eight players will be able to play together this way in any configuration they like (eg; one PS3 and seven NGPs, or three and four etc.) online.
