Wii U Getting Gamecube Controller Adapter For Super Smash Bros.

Over Twitter, Nintendo of America have revealed that the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. will be playable with Gamecube controllers. Alongside the tweet, NOA posted the following image:

That looks like a new variant of the regular Gamecube controller hooked up to a special adapter to allow it to connect to the Wii U. Nintendo haven’t announced further details regarding how and when the controllers and adapters will be available, but they did mention the adapter in a trailer for their Smash Bros. tournament at E3:

 

 

Super Smash Bros. will be available on Wii U this Winter.
