Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has a fairly interesting premise. Your team is a ragtag group of villains who, more or less, rank low on the superhero power scale. Yet, the game’s name is Kill the Justice League, which is what they’re expected to do.
Let’s look at the setup and the storyline reason our group of villains turns into anti-heroes. If you’re super concerned about spoilers, don’t worry. I won’t bring up anything you don’t learn within the first hour or so of gameplay.
Why do you fight the Justice League in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League starts off mid-invasion by Brainiac. To top it off, he’s actually managed to capture and brainwash the Justice League, including Green Lantern, Batman, and Superman. Starting in a world that has, essentially, already lost to Brainiac is a unique premise, as it’s now up to some of the least qualified people to set things right.
So the answer is simple, then. Superman and Batman are evil in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League because they’re doing Brainiac’s bidding. Of course, there is some nuance to that, but it is the reality the characters find themselves in.
It’s an interesting angle to take, and I think the story of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is worth checking out because it makes some interesting choices. All of those choices start with a premise that most games wouldn’t dare tackle. Let’s let the villains save the day by making our beloved heroes the bad guys.
