Assassin’s Creed Shadows returns to the unique stylings of Syndicate in its dual protagonist nature, with two playable characters at the exact same time. The open-world stealth RPG experience will have Naoe and Yasuke as the lead characters in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. But who are they?
Who Is Naoe in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
What is fascinating about these two leads is they have some basis in real-world history. The game takes place in 1579 Japan and follows much of the events that happened during this warring period. In the case of Naoe, she isn’t as clear-cut of a historical figure as her samurai counterpart.
In fact, it seems Naoe is an original character for this latest game. She is a female shinobi (ninja or kunoichi in this case) and hails from the Iga Province. This likely means she is part of the legendary Iga Clan destroyed by Oda Nobunaga. In addition, Naoe’s father is Fujibayashi Nagato in Assassin’s Creed Shadows Nagato is the leader of the Iga Clan at this time, though little is known about him.
Who Is Yasuke in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
On the other hand, when it comes to Yasuke in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, we know a bit more about him. He represents the samurai side of the equation and will be more combat-focused compared to Naoe’s stealth focus. Yasuke was a real person in history and the first known foreigner samurai in Japan.
Yasuke came over to Japan from Africa in 1579, right at the start of the game. He served Oda Nobunaga, who may be a key villain in this title. Yasuke is a famous Black samurai in history and he has plenty of material covering him already, including an anime series, books like Kurosuke, and even other video games like the Nioh series.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows releases on November 15, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
