Which Character Should You Marry in Unicorn Overlord

Once you get the Ring of the Maiden in Unicorn Overlord, you can use it to marry a character for special bonuses in the game. However, you might wonder who that honor should go to, so here’s some insight into making that decision.

Marry for “love” in Unicorn Overlord

This is probably the option most people will choose in Unicorn Overlord. It isn’t a bad one, either! If you really like a character, odds are you’re making them a priority in your army and using them a lot. Plus, this is a (virtual) commitment that involves a special scene between the character and Alain, earning Rapport conversations between them, and seeing them connected in the ending.

So yes, if there is a man or woman who you really like for Alain, you feel their Rapport conversations are great, and you maybe want to have them in the same unit supporting each other, make a match for love.

Make a practical choice when picking which character to marry in Unicorn Overlord

Or, you can do what I did and make a match based on practicality. Once you get Alain and another character paired up (and promised to marry) in Unicorn Overlord, you get improved versions of the Ring of the Unicorn and Ring of the Maiden. In the case of the Ring of the Maiden, that’s giving one of your allies a five point boost to every stat and increases their base PP by one point.

What I recommend is this. Pick someone who you like to have as a leader for a second squadron. If you like the bonuses the bestrals provide, make that Dinah. If the flying characters are your favorites, think about Ochlys, Umerus, Celeste, or Hilda. If additional ranged support is important to you, then consider someone like Mandrin, Ridiel, or Galadmir. In this case, your goal is to use that Ring of the Maiden to ensure you have another exceptional leader of a second squad so if you’re ever in a tight spot, you can rely on who Alain is leading and who his partner is in charge of.

Unicorn Overlord is available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X
