The Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC immediately thrusts players into an eerie, dark graveyard filled with foreboding atmosphere, but no guide to where you should go first. From this haunting starting point, let’s take a look at where you might head.
Where should I immediately go after starting the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC?
First, head down to the road from the graveyard. On it, you’ll find a glowing yellow pillar that contains the area map. Acquiring the map will give you a better sense of direction. Next, follow the road northward. In the distance, you’ll spot a massive flaming Furnace Golem. For now, avoid engaging with it and instead rest at the Site of Grace located just south of the Golem.
From this point, you have two main options, but there’s an optimal path to follow. One option is to head east across a long bridge leading to Castle Ensis. However, it’s better to save Castle Ensis for later. Instead, head west and follow a similar-looking path that takes you to Belurat, Tower Settlement.
Head to Belurat, Tower Settlement first in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC
At Belurat, you’ll encounter a few NPCs, a Miquella Cross, a Site of Grace, and a Scadutree Fragment just outside the settlement. Engage with the NPCs here to gain valuable insights and context for your journey.
This area serves as the game’s first legacy dungeon, making it an ideal starting point. Tackling this dungeon first allows you to meet crucial NPCs and offers a manageable challenge that eases you into the DLC’s difficulty curve. It’s boss is also slighlt more manageable than the one at Castle Ensis. Although, don’t expect a lightweight fight.
Once you’ve cleared Belurat and gathered useful items, you can proceed to Castle Ensis with more confidence and preparation. By following this path, you’ll set a solid foundation for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
Elden Ring is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Shadow of Erdtree DLC appears on June 21, 2024.
