You can obtain fireworks in Super Mario RPG, which are needed for an essential quest item. Here is where to get fireworks in the Nintendo remake and what they are used for.
What do fireworks do in Super Mario RPG?
While in the middle of the Moleville region in Super Mario RPG, you will stumble upon an NPC hidden behind a series of crates. While the little mole girl is hard to spot at first, you can see her pink ribbons peaking out from behind the boxes.
After talking to her, she will ask if you want to buy a Shiny Stone from her. The only problem is she wants to trade the stone for Fireworks. Thankfully, the item is located pretty close by and can be found in the house directly to the left of the crates.
After entering the house, walk past the two children and speak to the adult Mole, standing to the right of the two beds. You can purchase fireworks for 500 coins in Super Mario RPG. While the item is expensive, most players should have enough currency by this point in the campaign.
Now that you have the fireworks in hand walk back outside and speak to the little mole girl again. She will now exchange the Fireworks for the Shiny Stone.
What does the Shiny Stone do in Super Mario RPG?
If you are wondering what the Shiny Stone does, it’s a key item used in the late-game. If you want to avoid slight spoilers, don’t read ahead. In Super Mario RPG, the Shiny Stone unlocks the sealed door in Monstro Town, leading to the secret Culex boss fight.
How to get more fireworks in Super Mario RPG
After purchasing fireworks in Moleville for the first time in Super Mario RPG, the vendor will suddenly claim that he has “run out” of the item. So, how do you get more? You can only hold one fireworks item in your inventory in Super Mario RPG.
You must trade the fireworks to the mole girl for the Shiny Stone if you want to purchase more. Once you have made the trade, you can return to the vendor, who will start selling more fireworks again for 500 a piece.
Fireworks also have another secret feature. Without getting into spoilers, the more of the item you have purchased will influence one of the visuals during an end-game sequence. It’s not a massive deal, but a neat easter egg.
Super Mario RPG is now available on the Nintendo Switch.
