Where to Find the Draconite Ore Location for Izo in FFVII Rebirth

There are some quests in FFVII Rebirth that involve getting a map of sorts to a location and finding where things are for someone, and the Draconite Ore “The Pursuit of Perfection” quest for Izo is an ideal example. However, it can be a bit trickier than the Junon Region one involving Wainsright Parts, as you are given photographs to follow instead of a map. Here’s how to get that ore for the weaponsmith.

Where do I find the Draconite Ore location for Izo in “The Pursuit of Perfection” in FFVII Rebirth?

Okay, the first thing you want to do is progress through the Chapter 9 campaign in Gongaga until you finished the reactor visit. On the notice board you’ll find the quest request for “The Pursuit of Perfection.” This will highlight Izo’s Smithery (and home) on the map.

I also indicated both it and his shed on the screenshot of the map below.

Izo ends up inspired by Barret and his gun arm after meeting the party and seeing the universal adapter in place. He asks for Draconite Ore to make his dreams come true, and tells you to go to the storage shed (which I marked above) to get a map to the materials he needs.

Here’s where the quest gets tricky. Izo didn’t leave you a map. He left you five photographs with markings on them. You need to follow the landmarks to find the materials. Let’s go through this step by step.

The first photo is super easy! You are at the storage shed and need to go right down the road in front of it. Here’s the screenshot and the map I marked up.

The second photo is a little difficult due to the lighting. However, you want to get to this storage space with white fabric on it, then make a left. Again, I highlighted the spot and marked the map for you.

For the third photo, there’s a distinctive, circular rock formation in it. Turn right just past it and continue on your way. Beware of the Chimera Mimic enemies roaming around here too!

The fourth photo is a little difficult to discern too, because the ruin you’re looking for might not stand out as much. Go to this spot next.

Now for the fifth photo that leads to the actual gathering spot, you’ll know when you find it. This is because the game will automatically trigger a brief cutscene that lets you know it is the right point and… a fight against a flock of Daggerwings will kick off. I hope you have Barret or Yuffie in your party to knock these aerial enemies out of the sky!

Anyways, here’s another map and the spot you need to get to in order to reach the place where the Draconite location is in FFVII Rebirth.

How do I get the Draconite Ore for Izo in FFVII Rebirth?

Okay, the next part is much easier. There will be a highlighted area, and you’ll need to pick purple clumps of ore off of the side of cliffs by pressing the triangle button.

I took some maps and screenshots of the locations of all eight pieces, so it shouldn’t be too difficult for you to pick them all up. First, here are the first two.

The rest require you to climb the rope to the other area.

The fifth and sixth ones are in a shadowy area right next to each other.

The seventh one is actually almost outside the bounds of the highlighted area.

The eighth one is right near the seventh.

Once you have all eight, fast travel back to Izo’s Smithy. He’ll give you the Fafnir Rifle for Barret, and Cloud’s relationship with Barret will improve.

The Fafnir Rifle is a great weapon if you’re building Barret with magic in mind. Its Point Blank ability is good for AOE damage. It can equip five pieces of Materia, though none are linked, and it should have two Weapon Ability slots right away.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available on the PS5, with the exclusivity arrangement ending on May 29, 2024.
