The launch of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, Myths & Mortals, has been delayed due to major issues with the game’s update. Here is the answer to the question “When will Fortnite servers be back?” and the time players can expect to log in to the battle royale again.
How long will the Fortnite downtime be? Estimated Chapter 5 Season 2 start time
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 was supposed to go live at the start of March 8th, 2024. However, Epic Games made a surprise announcement hours before its launch and revealed that Myths & Mortals would be delayed for hours due to emergency maintenance. So players looking to jump into the new Chapter will have to hang tight a little longer. Thankfully, Epic also gave us a general time to expect the game to come back online.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 will start at around 7 PM PST and 10 PM EST, as the Fortnite Servers downtime will last “at least” 11 hours. Below are the global times when Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 may be live:
- 7 PM PST – 3/8/24
- 10 PM EST – 3/8/24
- 3 AM GMT 3/9/24
- 2 PM JST – 3/9/24
Epic Games made the announcement at 6 AM PST on its social media account, which is how we are able to get a rough estimate of the schedule by adding eleven hours from the post time. However, Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 could go live earlier or later. But that’s the time window that we are currently working with.
Update: Epic Games has extended the maintenance by another extra 5 hours. So, the above times have been updated to reflect that (Chapter 5 will now start at 7 PM PST / 10 PM EST).
Fortnite servers not responding in Chapter 5 Season 2
You are not alone if you are getting the dreaded “Fortnite servers not responding” message. As mentioned above, Epic Games had to pull the entire game for emergency maintenance. As a result, Chapter 5 Season 2 was delayed by 11 hours. If you are still getting this error message once the servers are back up, reset your game and keep trying to log in.
Based on past events with Fortnite server downtime, some players may even have to wait a few hours extra even after the maintenance is over. You have to remember that there are now millions of players trying to access the new season all at the same time. Instead of Chapter 5, Season 2 being released slowly throughout the day, it’s now going to have to deal with every player worldwide trying to access it simultaneously.
Fortnite is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, mobile and PC.
