If you haven’t been keeping up with the Chainsaw Man manga, this is your sign to start. In our last few chapters, we saw Denji arrive at the so-called Chainsaw Man Church. Why? Well, Denji has a love-hate relationship with publicity as far as his stunts as Chainsaw Man, so it seems as if his escapades are attracting the wrong kind of attention. Chapter 142 of the Chainsaw Man manga is on the way, and it arrives next week.

What is the Chainsaw Man chapter 142 release date?

According to Manga Plus and Viz Media, chapter 142 will release on September 12, 2023, at 8am PT/11am ET. Chainsaw Man is released consistently on Tuesdays. However, despite initially seeming as if the series would release new chapters weekly, the manga saw regular shifts between being released weekly and bi-weekly. This change occurred almost immediately after the release of Part 2 — beginning with Chapter 98 — which was published on Wednesday 13th July 2022.

The reasoning behind the inconsistent scheduling is actually the manga’s shift from physical print to online publication. Although the manga was originally published in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, it shifted to Shonen Jump+ starting with Part 2, which came with many advantages for mangaka Tatsuki Fujimoto, including a more flexible schedule.

This isn’t uncommon for manga series, either. Many series on Shonen Jump+ have irregular schedules, with some series coming out bi-weekly or weekly with scheduled breaks (to give the mangaka time to recuperate). In rare instances, some manga even release new chapters monthly as oppose to weekly or bi-weekly for an extended wait.

Chainsaw Man‘s manga is available physically via Viz Media, and the anime is on Crunchyroll.
