How do I gain access to Gold Road in The Elder Scrolls Online?

Well, you’re going to have to buy it! Though before that, you can sample it a bit. As part of the MMORPG’s 10th anniversary celebration, the Gold Road Prologue is available for free in April 2024. That gives you an idea of what to expect from the new adventure.

There are multiple options for buying it. If you are already a The Elder Scrolls Online player, you only need the standard or deluxe edition upgrade for $39.99 or $49.99. The difference is the deluxe edition includes a Colovian Emote Pack, Skingrad Guard Mastiff pet, Skingrad Vedette Armor Pack, Ulfsilds Tome of Legends Memento, West Wealder Tharriker mount, and past Chapter Deluxe Edition items. Pre-purchasing gives you a new costume, pet, and Crown Crate at launch and the Welkyndstone Ruins Wolf mount right now.

Here’s how those items will look:

If you don’t own the game, there will be $59.99 standard and $79.99 deluxe The Elder Scroll Online Collection: Gold Road options to buy. The Gold Road contents of these are identical to the ones above. The difference is you also get the base game and all of the other chapters released so far.

Bethesda released an infographic for us that shows all of the differences between the four options. This way, you have a visual reminder of which one you could go with when you decide to play through the new chapter.

What will I experience in The Elder Scrolls Online Gold Road?

Since the initial site is live, we do know what to expect from the Gold Road chapter when it launches! Of course, more secrets could come up once people actually play.

The setting for the expansion is West Weald, from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. When we get there, we can meet new NPCs and find quests at places like Skingrad. We also can explore the Valenwood nearby. As we do, we’ll learn about the Daedric Prince Ithelia and deal with his minions. That means Daedric will appear in Mirrormoor Incursions in the area.

One of the new multiplayer experiences also came up. Lucent Citadel will be tied to Ithelia and appear in the region. This is a 12-player experience that forces people to work together to fight new enemies and reach the Reanimating Crux.

There will also be new skills. You can change how your skills that you use look with Skill Styling. How they work will change with Scribing. When you use Scribing, you can alter skills that you earned for different kinds of builds, which could help you find a new role for yourself in parties or new ways to play.

The Elder Scrolls Online is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and Gold Road launches on June 3, 2024.
