There are so many items you can find in Baldur’s Gate 3, ranging from potions to scrolls and equipment to even books. Like other similar RPGs, you can find books throughout the world for you to read and learn more about the lore and history of this game. But what else should you do with books in Baldur’s Gate 3 besides read them?

What Should You Do With Books in Baldur’s Gate 3?

The fact of the matter is books don’t have as much of a purpose as they may seem in Baldur’s Gate 3. Unlike some other games, their only real purpose, most of the time, is for additional lore. Only a handful of books within the game actually serve a real purpose, such as giving a hint for a puzzle, fulfilling a side quest objective, or teaching you something.

Outside of the few exceptions like the Necromancy of Thay book, there is almost no reason to keep the books and notes you find in this game. Unless you truly want to come back and read more about the drama between a couple of people, the only thing you should do is sell them.

For one, they are added weight in your precious and limited inventory space. You could use that up for weapons and potions you’ll need later on. So, it is best to sell these books for a handful of coins at the nearest trader NPC.

On the other hand, if you are a true scholar and librarian of the Baldur’s Gate 3 world, your best bet is to unload the collection at the Traveler’s Chest at your campsite. This special chest lets you store whatever you want there, and it is a great place to act as your makeshift bookshelf when you want to sit down with a good story or two.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PCs and will release for the PS5 on September 6, 2023.
