Amber is a resource you’ll often come across in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, whether it’s given as a quest reward or found through smashing rocks. Here’s what to do with the ridiculous amount you’ve undoubtedly got stockpiled up.

What do I do with all this Amber in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

There are multiple ways to use Amber in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The first option, which is the thing I do the most, is to simply sell it. It’s obvious, but if you’ve wrapped up over 100 pieces of Amber like me, it can be an easy way to make some quick Rupees. They sell for 10 Rupees each.

If you’d rather find a more productive use for it, the fossilized resin has 4 Fuse Attack Power. This makes it a fantastic resource to add to any weapon using Link’s Fuse ability if you’re in a pinch and need more firepower.

Finally, if you’re looking to upgrade the Hylian, Armor of Time, or Soldier’s armor sets at a Great Fairy Fountain, you’ll want to hang onto your Amber. It’s a necessary component.

How much Amber do I need to upgrade those armor sets in Tears of the Kingdom?

The required Amber for each fully upgraded piece of the Hylian, Armor of Time, and Soldier’s armor sets are:

  • Cap of Time: 100 Amber.
  • Hylian Hood: 50 Amber.
  • Hylian Trousers: 50 Amber.
  • Hylian Tunic: 50 Amber.
  • Soldier’s Helm: 30 Amber.
  • Soldier’s Greaves: 30 Amber.
  • Soldier’s Armor: 30 Amber.
  • Trousers of Time: 100 Armor.
  • Tunic of Time: 100 Armor.

If you don’t have those armor sets yet but think you might want them in the future, stock up on every piece of Amber you come across to save yourself the headache later on.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
