Like Bethesda’s previous titles, such as Skyrim and Fallout, Starfield has already amassed a sizeable modding community. While many of these have been to remix or build on the game, other mods exist to fix issues and bugs, such as the Starfield Community Patch Project.
What is the Starfield Community Patch Project?
The Starfield Community Patch Project is a group of modders who banded together to fix various issues found within the vanilla version of Starfield. At the time of writing, the project has fixed over 74 errors within the game. The team has 15 members currently, but they are looking for newcomers. The group also maintains a discord server, Reddit page, and forum for those who wish to connect with them. More info is available on the community’s website.
What does the Starfield community mod fix?
The project intends to fix unintentional mistakes within the original game. These include glitches, errors in the script, missing elements, general inconsistencies, or even simple typos. While the mod sets out to polish the vanilla game, it will not add original content or adjust the balance of systems in Starfield.
Their website maintains a log of every change they make and a list of issues in the game that have been reported. The group also explains that while many of the bugs and glitches may eventually be patched by Bethesda, the Community Patch Project exists to keep up with the frequent rate of issues being discovered by players.
How to download the Starfield Community Patch Project
The project can be downloaded on either GitHub or NexusMods. The website recommends using either Vortex or Mod Organizer 2 to install the software. This mod is only available on PC and not yet for Xbox users. The community has promised that the project will always be free but that there will always be a donation box.
Starfield is available on PC and Xbox.
