Adventure Mode is a feature designed to make levelling additional characters less punishing and repetitive by giving you more options on where and how to get your experience. Here’s how to unlock Adventure Mode, as well as what exactly it does, in WoW: The War Within.
How to Unlock Adventure Mode in WoW: The War Within
Unlocking Adventure Mode is a simple matter of completing the main story campaign in WoW: The War Within. Campaign quests have a brown shield behind the exclamation mark symbol, and checking your map and quest log should have a box that shows your current campaign progress in the zone. If you’ve abandoned or not picked up the current quest step, clicking to expand the box should tell you what quest you need to pick up to continue and where to find it.
Once you’ve finished the main campaign through each of the zones, you’ll end up back in Dornogal talking to Moira. Upon completing this quest, called Surface Bound, Adventure mode will be unlocked for your Warband alongside World Quests.
What does Adventure Mode do in WoW: The War Within?
Inspired by the mode of the same name from the Diablo series and first introduced in part back in the Shadowlands expansion, Adventure mode essentially frees your characters from having to re-do the campaign from start to finish. Instead, it allows you to choose a zone to adventure in, with the quests and enemies in that zone synced to your level. You can skip the intro scenario and get right into your favorite zone!
This means you could level a character from 70-80 entirely within one zone should you wish, rather than having to go through them sequentially. If you particularly liked one of the zones and wanted to get more of the story, you could use Adventure Mode to follow up all the sidequests without losing out on experience. Additionally, it also makes the 4 levelling dungeons in WoW: The War Within (The Rookery, The Stonevault, Priory of the Sacred Flame, and Ara-Kara the City of Echoes) accessible from levels 70-80 instead of their usual requirements. And just to sweeten the pot, for every character in your warband that reaches 80 you’ll get a 5% experience buff, stacking up to 25%. Happy levelling!
