Diablo 4 introduces many new mechanics to the series, including the Lucky Hit. Here’s what the combat feature does and why it can be so helpful.
So, what is a Lucky Hit in Diablo IV?
When attacking a foe in combat, you may sometimes trigger what is known as a Lucky Hit. The percentage of how often a Lucky Hit will occur is tied to the Skill you’re using and whatever Lucky Hit perks you have on your weapon or armor. This means the chances of landing one vary from person to person. But a Lucky Hit isn’t enough on its own: you must have an effect tied to it for it to work.
Lucky Hit effects are found in some Skills and Passives or attached to weapons and armor as perks. For example, I have a Lucky Hit perk on my Crystal Greatsword of the Expectant, which gives me up to a +6.5% chance to instantly kill non-Elite enemies if I land a Lucky Hit on them. Another one I have is tied to my Hewed Flesh Skill, which increases my chance of spawning a Corpse at a target’s location with every Lucky Hit—perfect for my Necromancer minion build.

Each time you pick up a new weapon or armor piece, it’s worth checking if it has a Lucky Hit perk attached to it and, if so, whether it benefits your build and playstyle. Lucky Hit effects can often give you the edge in battle and may mean the difference between victory and defeat, depending on the fight.
You can check your Lucky Hit chance percentage by clicking on the Materials and Stats button in the Character menu and scrolling down to the bottom.
