On June 26, 2024, a two-day maintenance period will begin in FFXIV in order to prepare for the newest expansion Dawntrail and 7.0 update. Once that maintenance commences, players will be unable to access the game until it ends, and some events rewards are going away. Their next appearances? That’s unknown.
What events and rewards go away when the FFXIV Dawntrail maintenance for 7.0 starts?
The biggest swathe of items that players will lose access to are the PVP Series level rewards. Functioning as a sort of battle pass, playing in PVP encounters, Crystalline Conflict, or any of the Frontline modes grants points that earn you currency and rewards for player characters. Chief of these, for this season, were a minion styled after the Emerald Weapon, two Adventurer Plate profile cards, a new emote, a dejected slump, and a set of armor called the Fierce Tyrant’s Attire. Getting to rank 25 to claim all of those rewards will require doing a large amount of PVP. I recommend playing as many matches as you can until June 26, 2024.
The next offering that will go away once 7.0 and Dawntrail maintenance begins is the FFXIV Yo-kai Watch collaboration event. In it, players can get minions and weapons based on many of the Yo-kai in the series, like Jibanyan, and two special mounts based on Whisper. If you want them, it will entail a lot of FATE grinding in lower level areas of the game, so players could use it as an excuse to get a couple levels in classes and jobs they want to bring up for Dawntrail. This is a recurring event, however, as it appeared in 2016, 2017, 2020, and 2024, so in a few years you may get a chance to go through it if you miss it.
Last, but not least, the Moogle Treasure Trove event will be leaving on June 24, 2024, two days before maintenance is scheduled to start. While the exchange shop for it will stick around until 7.1, the ability to earn the Irregular Tomestones needed for the prizes will not. Some of the biggest prizes in the Irregular Tomestone exchange are the Ufiti gorilla mount, Emerald Carbuncle Earrings, and the Domakin goldfish minion. Players looking to get their hands on some of these rare items without having to go the extra mile and hope that dungeon or Extreme Trial RNG are in their favor should try to get the Irregular Tomestones while they can. You can see a list of available items in game or on the event site.
With the excitement of the new expansion looming, many players are doing final preparations, cleaning their inventories, and making sure they are on the right Data Centers and World servers to enjoy Dawntrail. While doing this, they should keep in mind it may be a year or more before many of these things are in their grasps.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on the PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox. Dawntrail begins early access on June 28, 2024 with full access arriving on July 5, 2024
