Curse is just one of the many stats that can affect your characters in Vampire Survivors runs. So what exactly does the Curse stat do in Vampire Survivors, and how can you use it to your advantage in a run?
What is Curse in Vampire Survivors?
Curse in Vampire Survivors is primarily a stat that increases the game’s difficulty. It buffs enemy speed, health, and spawn frequency and quantity. All items and effects that grant curse stack, and there is no maximum amount.
Curse is available under the PowerUp menu. There are five ranks, with the curse amount increased by 10% for each rank. The item Skull O’Maniac also provides a +10% Curse per level, up to a max level of five. The Gold Ring and Metaglio Right both provide +5% per level up to level nine. Torrona’s Box provides +100% once maxed at level nine.
When to use Curse in Vampire Survivors
While Curse is primarily responsible for making the game more difficult, that doesn’t mean it is without uses. Since Curse brings more enemies with each wave, there is more opportunity for leveling up. There’s a sweet spot between enemies being overwhelmingly tough and plentiful enough to double, or even triple, your XP gain.
This can help you evolve all the weapons in the game, especially those requiring 3 fully leveled items. I found I could only reach level 80 on Gallo Tower by turning on two or three ranks of Curse. However, you can unlock Charm as a PowerUp later in the game. This increases the number of enemies without boosting their power, making it a superior option for these uses. However, Curse can still be applied for a challenge.
Vampire Survivors Emergency Meeting DLC is now available for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, mobile, and PC. The DLC is coming to Switch at a later date.
