Keeping with the winter theme, all five of the new spirits are Ice types. This adds to the currently short list of three spirits of this type in the base game, bringing their numbers more in line with other types. Like all Ice types, these spirits are all weak to Fire, but work effectively against Poison.

What are the new Moonstone Island Spirits?

Eyesee is shaped like an ice cream cone with two scoops, and a single eye on each one. Its special ability is Double Scoop, which allows two cards from its deck to be drawn at the start of the combat along with the usual cards. This is useful as it increases your chances of getting cards you need on your first turn.

Honkshoo is a sleepy snowball in a nightcap. It’s similar in appearance to the Sleep ability in the Kirby series. Its special ability is Catchin Z’s, which allows it to level up when you go to bed at night. However, it needs to be following you to gain this benefit. Sadly, this benefit doesn’t apply to other spirits in your party, which would make it more useful.

Hygge is a polar bear wrapped up in gigantic Christmas sweater. It’s named for the Danish concept of comfort and coziness. Due to the warm and fuzzy nature of this spirit, its special ability is Gift Giver. This allows any spirit banished in battle to still gain XP at the end of the fight. This is especially useful in tougher fights such as dungeons or temples.

Whistler is a rad snowboarding penguin. When standing, this spirit will hold its board, but when it starts to move, it will coast along on it and occasionally do a kickflip. Its special ability is Fresh Pow, which allows all spirits in your party, including itself, to gain 20% more XP on snowy days. This is only useful during winter, but it’s still a solid boost for the time it’s available.

Yeeti is a yeti who looks ready throw a giant snowball. When walking, this spirit will roll it along the ground instead. Its special ability is Snowball, which doubles any Sharp attribute applied to it. This is not a super useful ability, as this attribute doesn’t come up often.

Where can I find the New Spirits in the Moonstone Island winter update?

Because all the new winter update spirits are Ice types, it’s only possible to catch them during a single season of the game. Ice types can only be caught in snowy conditions, which are exclusive to Winter.

However, during Winter these Spirits can all be obtained by flying to any Grass or Water island. They will randomly spawn among the usual types you can find there. The current spawn rate seems reasonable too, and they will often appear in groups together, allowing you to tame two or three at once.

Moonstone Island is available now for PCs.
