Rather than have players hammer away at attacking foes, beat ‘em up Way of the Passive Fist instead asks players to fight defensively, watching foes and parrying, blocking, and countering appropriately.
In Way of the Passive Fist, players control the Wanderer, a warrior out to defeat the raiders and maniacs that have run wild on a once-prosperous mining colony. To do so, players will need to study their opponents and learn their moves, knowing when to defend and parry their attacks. In doing this, players steadily drain their foes’ stamina, as well as build up a super meter that will allow them to use powerful super attacks that will down everyone who stands against them.
Way of the Passive Fist aims to offer many different ways to play, offering a story mode for those who wish to explore the narrative of the battle to defeat the tyranny that has overcome the mining colony, or an arcade mode for those who wish to prove their mastery with finite lives. It further allows players to customize their experience with remappable controls, allowing players to play one-handed, only using the control sticks, or on keyboard, allowing players to fight however they like.
Way of the Passive Fist is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and Steam.
