How big is Monster Hunter in Japan, you ask? Popular enough to hold annual festivities, where fans from across the country gather to enjoy Monster Hunter-themed events, called “Monster Hunter Festa”. Capcom recently shared a few videos from Monster Hunter Festa 2013’s top teams of the time attack tournament.
Team Super Dry, a duo of Long Sword users takes home gold in the event, but the above is a look at a fight against the new shark monster called Zaboazagill and Tigrex during the semi-finals.
Amazingly enough, they prove that Long Swords are still the go-to weapon for reliability and top-notch damage dealing, as they finished the fight in 6 minutes and 29 seconds.
During the finals of the “King of Hunters” main event, the champions took on a trio of Brachydios, Yian Garuga and a permanent “Super Saiyan” mode Rajang, impressively finishing the fight in just 10 minutes and 51 seconds.
In this video, we get a look at the all-female Hunter tournament finals, with Team Lupi-Mini finishing as the champions. This team is made of an Insect Staff and Bow users, who put the fierce Deviljho to shame, making it look as easy as farming Great Jaggis.
Finally, here’s a look at the finals of the parents and children tournament, where the father-son Dual Blade team of Bundori Meraruu were crowned as the champions. They fight the scorpion-like Genel Serutas and its Arserutas mate, finishing in 3 minutes and 54 seconds.
Capcom recently revealed that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will be released in the west in early 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.
