Watch A Woman Fight Robots With A Motorized Lance In Black Maria Overdrive

Recommended Videos

Japanese indie studio Y-Cubed is showed its 2D action-platformer Black Maria Overdrive at Comiket 88.

It has you playing as a woman who uses a motorized lance as a weapon. Her main attack is a revved-up charge that costs Aether to perform. Luckily, the Aether regenerates pretty fast.

She is shown in the trailer using this charge attack to fight against drones and large robots in an industrial wasteland. She also faces human rivals who each have their own specialized melee weapon.

In between battles, the charge attack is used to overcome platform challenges. It’s also used to escape pitfalls in a similar way to how you may save yourself from falling in Super Smash Bros.
