Voidspire Tactics Offers A Turn-Based RPG Without The Typical Fantasy Setting

Recommended Videos

If you’re tired of seeing fantasy RPGs filled with the usual orcs, dwarves, elves, and goblins then Voidspire Tactics may be worth checking out.

Its creators pride themselves on not including any of those typical creatures in its fantasy setting. Humans are still included, but there are also Fareem (feathered people with a serpent’s tail), Scurio (bipeds with a mix of feline, vulpine, and musteline features), and Rasmen (faceless people that sense essence around them).

Aside from those four playable races, Voidspire Tactics also has 17 classes to choose from, over 100 abilities to learn and upgrade, and over 50 passive abilities to mix and match.

Most interesting is how the abilities can be used to interact with the environment in and out of combat. For example, you could freeze a river in order to cross it if one of your party has that ability. Or, in battle, you might flood the battlefield and then cast lightning to electrocute your enemies.

You’ll want to look out for elemental interactions such as that, as well as opportunities to make use of the destructible terrain, in order to get through the game’s turn-based battles – they’re said to be easy to learn but hard to master.

The idea in Voidspire Tactics is to explore the non-linear world you and your party get warped to at the game’s beginning and overcome the power of the Spire. It’s made by one person and is now available to buy over on its website. You can also vote for it on Steam Greenlight.
