Bakuman is a story of two young men aspiring to become professional manga-ka. Moritaka Mashiro, the protagonist, is a talented artist who is approached by his classmate, Akito Takagi, an aspiring writer, with an offer to team up and create manga together.

While Moritaka is initially hesitant, encouragement from his fiancée, Miho Azuki — an up and coming voice-actress — and Takagi’s persistence push him to give it a try.
Like Death Note before it, Bakuman is written by Tsugumi Ohba and drawn by Takeshi Obata. While the first volume only officially releases in August, Viz’s May 2010 issue of Shonen Jump contains a preview.
