Sega showcased the latest footage of their upcoming strategy RPG, Valkyria: Azure Revolution, with a look at some gameplay from the Battle Demo Ver. 2.0 featuring an updated battle system.

Gravure idols Yuka Kuramochi and Saki Yoshida are your hosts today, and they’ll take on a mission after a brief video from director Takeshi Ozawa. According to the director, this mission will allow players to put their own teams together.

Characters specialize in attacks, attributes, and have their own characteristics. For example, Scouts have high recovery in action gauge and are known for their speedy and mobile movements. On the other hand, Armored Soldiers have high defense and have the ability to provoke enemies. In this mission, there are various landmines scattered about, so you’ll need to get help from a Support Soldier to get rid of them before things get bad.

Again, while it might help out to have a proper party composition made according to what you’re up against, Ozawa says that it’s not completely necessary to always have the proper setup, and you can simply make a party filled with your favorite characters. The gameplay starts at the 2:01 mark with the party setup.

Valkyria: Azure Revolution releases in Japan on January 19, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. You can also check out our earlier report to read everything you need to know about the Battle Demo Ver. 2.0’s changes.
