A few years ago back in 2010, a Spanish indie developer named Akaoni Studio created a rail-shooter called Zombie Panic in Wonderland for WiiWare. If you were reading Siliconera back in those days, you might recall that Marvelous at the time were licensing Western-developed WiiWare games to release in Japan, and this was one of them.
In fact, in an interview with Siliconera, Akaoni revealed that Zombie Panic was the game that originally inspired Marvelous to establish their “World Game Parade” label, under which they published these WiiWare games in their home market. Other games released under this label included Bit Boy, Max & the Magic Marker and more.
Now, four years later, Zombie Panic in Wonderland is now being re-released as a Nintendo 3DS game via the Nintendo eShop. Titled Zombie Panic in Wonderland DX, the updated re-release of the game will feature overhauled visuals, new characters, and new environments to play through. Akaoni have also created more diverse enemies that are more intelligent and interact with the environment, using it against you.
Sound effects for the 3DS version have been updated as well. Akaoni say they’ve included new effects, enemy voices, shot sounds, explosions and more. Finally, the game has two control schemes—one that uses the 3DS touch screen and stylus for aiming, and the other that uses the Circle Pad and face buttons.
Zombie Panic in Wonderland DX will be available on October 30th for €5 / $6 in Europe and North America via the Nintendo eShop. You can view a trailer for the game above.
