Chain Chronicle V made its debut on the PlayStation Vita back in July 2014. Since its release, the game has seen several collaborations, from Shining Resonance to the Atelier Arland trilogy. Earlier, it scored a collaboration with Legends of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC Evolution. Vita owners were able to play as Agate Crosner, Kloe Rinz, Estelle Bright, Joshua Bright, Tita Russell, and Olivert Reise Arnor. Let’s take a look at some of the character’s skills and abilities.
First, let’s talk about Joshua. His first ability called Sever in the English localized games deals a greater amount of damage to an enemy if he attacks them several times in a row. He has two abilities, Time Up and Flicker, the latter of which Trails in the Sky fans should know well. Time Up allows the player to start the battle with 2 mana right off the bat and increases Joshua’s speed. His other ability, Flicker, slices through enemies and increases his attack for each one that he hits. It also increases the damage output of allies’ abilities by 25%.
Olivert is only slightly stronger than Joshua, and it shows in his abilities. His skill is Howling Balletto – fitting considering the character’s title as minstrel – it hits in a straight line and deals medium damage to anything within its range. The move hits enemies in the center even harder. His two abilities are Happy Trigger and Saint. Happy Trigger heals a party member with the lowest amount of HP by 25%, while Saint increases your parties defense and attack damage by 15% for a set period of time.
Estelle’s skill deals a small amount of damage to enemy directly in front of her 8 times. It then deals a burst of medium damage and knocks an enemy over. Her two abilities are Morale – also from her appearance in Trails in the Sky – and Vajra Shot. Morale raises allies’ attack by 3%. If there are 4 or more allies behind her, they will resist 10% of all damage taken, but if she has more than one ally in front of her, their HP will recover 2% every second. Vajra Shot makes critical hits more likely, and ups your allies’ attack power by 3% and lowers damage taken by 2%.
Tita is the weakest offensive character of the bunch, but she has some unique moves. Her skill is called Cannon Impulse. Its range is a straight line and it deals light damage to enemies within range 5 times. Then there are her abilities, Vital Cannon and Smoke Cannon. Vital Cannon shoots a wave into the sky that heals your allies’ HP by 5%, while Smoke Cannon both lower’s an enemy’s accuracy and increases the damage they take by 30%.
What about Agate? Surprisingly, his base stats make him a tad weaker than Joshua and Olivert, but his skills and abilities still pack a punch. Agate’s skill is Dynast Gale, which hits an enemy four times – once for 3.5x normal damage, and again 3 times for 1x normal damage. His two abilities are Buffalo Rage and Spiral Edge. Buffalo Rage will knock down opponents and interrupt their attacks, all the while slightly raising his critical hit rate. Spiral Edge hits all enemies and deals critical hits to those that are knocked down.
Finally, there’s Kloe Rinz. She’s right in line with Tita in terms of strength, but her abilities are killer. Lichtkreis heals all allies’ HP and raises their attack by 55%. Her abilities are Dia and Sturm. Dia increases the amount of HP healed with other by abilities by 10%, while Sturm targets an enemy’s weak point to deal damage. Sturm will hit for 50% to 110% damage depending on where the enemy is placed, and will temporarily freeze enemies.
