Tokyo Video Gamers bar will hold a temporary collaboration event with Grandia from October 9, 2021, to November 14, 2021. It will have an exclusive menu and merchandise lineup related to the classic Japanese RPG title.
Visitors who order a grilled giant squid or starfish-shaped rice will obtain sketches of Grandia characters drawn by the game’s illustrator Takuhito Kusanagi. Orders for the Ultra Drink cocktail will also come with rubber coasters featuring illustrations from the title.
The bar’s shop will sell various kinds of merchandise modeled after the game. Upcoming merchandise ranges from sticker sheets, badges, and acrylic stands, to T-shirts and towels embellished with the game’s interface. Furthermore, patrons who spend 22,000 yen (~$200) will receive an exclusive blanket containing the Grandia world map.
Grandia is a role-playing game that originally appeared on Sega Saturn in Japan in 1997. Sony brought the title to the first PlayStation in Japan and North America in 1999. More recently, GungHo Online Entertainment released an HD collection of Grandia and its sequel Grandia II for Nintendo Switch and PC globally in 2019.
Tokyo Video Gamers is a video game-themed bar located nearby the Akihabara UDX building in Tokyo, Japan. It features a merchandise shop and a game center with Gachapon vending machines and classic arcade games. Other than Grandia, the bar also sells coaster mats with designs from titles made by Arc System Works, SNK, Data East, and Jaleco.
