This Week In Sales: One Piece: Pirate Warriors Steals The Top Spot

Period: The week of February 27th – March 4th (2012)

Top-seller: One Piece: Pirate Warriors – 655,774

Nintendo 3DS sales: 70,744 | Total sales: 5,173,688

PlayStation Vita sales: 10,023 | Total sales: 600,021

As indicated by retailers, One Piece: Pirate Warriors was the star of last week’s releases, with a whopping 655,774 copies sold in its first week alone. That’s across two shipments of the game to our knowledge, as the first shipment consisted of just 650,000 units.

Seeing whether Pirate Warriors has the ability to stay on in the charts in the weeks to come is going to be very interesting to watch, and I look forward to seeing if it benefits from the occasional holiday periods the way so many other popular games tend to do.

At #2 was Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games with 43,000 copies sold. While Sega are the ones who publish the Mario & Sonic games in North America and Europe, Nintendo handle Japanese publishing duties.

At #3 was Harvest Moon: The Land of Origin, with another 27,000 copies sold in its second week. Harvest Moon’s second week sales are in sharp contrast to those of Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave, which outsold the Harvest Moon when they both launched two weeks ago, but has dropped from its #1 spot to #10 on this week’s chart.

My personal highlight of the week is Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy, which finally looks like it’s finally back in stock, making it shoot up from #15 to #5. Theatrhythm sold 21,540 copies last week, which is almost double what it sold the week before that.
