It’s the end of the month, meaning that it’s time for all the games to release at once! First on the list is Bandai Namco’s Code Vein, Bandai Namco’s more slow-paced action combat game developed by the God Eater team. Players will need to play as a new Revenant, and try to find out the mysteries of this post-apocalyptic world along the way.

The other big new release of the week is Atelier Ryza, which is meant to be a new venture for the series both engine-wise and gameplay-wise. This game will still have you collecting and mixing up ingredients as usual, but the RPG battle aspect is now more fast-paced. The game features new character designer Toridamono at the helm, and I’m sure you’ve already heard too much about Ryza herself.

That said, even as an enhanced port, it would be unwise to not mention Dragon Quest XI S, which brings the game to the Nintendo Switch finally. (It’s funny, considering that this game was the first announced game for the system ever.) This enhanced port features some extra individual side story elements for each party member, and adds in the 2D mode and Yocchi Village from the Nintendo 3DS version that was never released in the West. There are also some extra flourishes, like party members following behind you in this game, as well as orchestral field and battle BGMs and Japanese voice acting.

There’s also Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, the latest chapter in Adol’s adventures. This time, he’s tied up in the city of Barduke, and winds up having his fate intertwined with the mysterious Monstrum that each have their own abilities that can be taken into battle.

Finally, there are some smaller game releases with Inti Creates’ Luminous Avenger iX, the latest game in the Contra series with Contra Rogue Corps, Ninja Box, and the Nintendo Switch version of Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories.
