The Two Multiplayer Modes In Ninja Gaiden 3 And How They Work

Recommended Videos

Ninja Gaiden 3 has an online multiplayer mode, called “Shadows of the World”. This consists of both co-op and deathmatch, which Tecmo Koei’s community manager recently provided a little further insight into.

Deathmatch, as previously reported, allows for up to 8 players. This is called Clan Battle, and while the primary objective is to defeat the other team, each player will also get a separate objective (see bottom right of above screen), called a “Shadow Contract,” that they need to fulfil.

You may recall Tecmo mentioning at one point that you can betray your allies in Clan Battle mode. This appears to be part of the Shadow Contract feature. You can view a multiplayer Clan Battle video here.

“Ninja Trials” is the game’s co-op mode, or if you prefer, you can play it by yourself, too. By clearing Ninja Trials and performing certain in-game tasks like defeating enemies using Ninpo, you earn Karma. Karma increases your ninja’s level and as you gain levels, you’re able to perform more actions.

It’s possible to customize your ninja for multiplayer as well. While the ones above look fairly similar to Ryu with different colours, this is another possible look:

Ninja Gaiden 3 will be available on March 20th in North America and March 23rd in Europe for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A Wii U version will follow at a later date. You can find more screenshots of the game’s multiplayer mode here.
