The Pro Evolution Soccer Team Capture Their Own Moves

Recommended Videos

Pro Evolution Soccer is a series that relies heavily on motion capture to make sure the movements in the games look realistic and representative of their real-life soccer counterparts. This includes everything from kicks to dives.

Naturally, Konami can’t have the actual professional soccer players being represented in the games perform these moves for them over and over again. Shinji Enomoto, executive producer of the series, says that this would be too dangerous for the players and it would be impossible to ask them to do multiple takes, just for the sake of the game.

As a result, he reveals, the Pro Evo development staff capture their own movements to be included in the game. This allows the development team to do as many retakes as they would like during the motion capture process, and make sure the animations in the game look accurate.

This reveal comes via yet another third-party 3DS Iwata Asks interview. If you want to learn more about Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 on the 3DS, or about the series in general, you can find the talk here.
