The Outer Worlds Switch release date has finally been revealed. On March 6, 2020, people will be able to pick up a copy of Obsidian Entertainment’s action-RPG. It will be available both in the Nintendo eShop and in retail stores for $59.99. However, the boxes you’ll find at stores might not contain everything people would expect, as it is a digital-only release.

If someone picks up a retail copy of The Outer Worlds Switch release, they’ll get a box with a download code inside it. The game won’t be getting a cartridge release.

While this may seem odd, it isn’t entirely uncommon for Nintendo Switch games. For example, Overwatch Switch physical copies only have a box with a code inside of it.

The Outer Worlds is a Fallout: New Vegas style action-RPG where players’ decisions can help shape the course of their adventures and multiple paths to pursue goals are possible. It was nominated for multiple The Game Awards 2019 honors, but didn’t come away with any of them.

The Outer Worlds will come to the Nintendo Switch on March 6, 2020. It is immediately available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
