The other Zelda game, the one coming out for the DS

With most of the Legend of Zelda attention going towards the Twilight Princess it seems like the Phantom Hourglass fell to the wayside. That’s disappointing since the Legend of Zelda: the Phantom Hourglass is a novel change in the Zelda series. Instead of traditional controls, Link moves around using the touch screen. You can tap on the screen to make Link move or spin the stylus around him to do a spin attack. Also similar to how the Twilight Princess lets you lock on with the boomerang, you can draw a path for the boomerang with the stylus in the Phantom Hourglass. The top screen is used for information like the world map, a path for the boat and to show enemy vitals.

Also neat about the game is that it directly follows the Wind Waker. Now Link is part of Tetra’s pirate crew. When they discover an abandoned ship Tetra goes off the explore by herself, an obviously bad idea. Link attempts a rescue, but falls into the ocean. A fairy wakes the weary Link on a beach. Now Link has to track Tetra and find his bearings to get back home.  Sort of reminiscent of Link’s Awakening huh? Like its predecessor the Phantom Hourglass has the “celda” style (love it or hate it), but as a DS game the graphics are sweet. Check below to see more screenshots of the game and we’ll bring more information on both Zelda games in the near future.
