Earlier in May 2020, we learned that The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki will add a VR mode to the game via a post-launch update, but this wasn’t all Falcom had to announce. The developer also released a new short commercial featuring many new scenes and information on several other returning characters from past games in the series. [Thanks, 4Gamer 1, 2!]

In the commercial, we see C, Swin Abel, and Nadia Rayne meeting the young girl Lapis Rosenberg, who has been locked up in a chest. This scene occurs early into the game, showing off one of the events that will happen in the third story included in Hajimari no Kiseki.
Additionally, here are the details on the returning characters:
KeA Bannings (CV: Rie Kugimiya)
A bright and cheerful young girl who is loved by everybody. She has a strong, family-like bond with the members of the Special Support Section. In reality, she’s a homunculus created 500 years ago by alchemists, but nowadays she’s just a young girl with no powers. Currently, she’s under the protection of the S.S.S. and living as a normal girl, but she still has traces of her power that allow her to feel the flow of causality.
Alex Dudley (CV: Kazuya Nakai)
An elite special agent in charge of the First Division of the Crossbell Police. While he used to clash with the Special Support Section many times, after working together with them on many incidents he softened up and has recognized them as a part of the Crossbell Police.
After the liberation of Crossbell, he’s been busy dealing with the aftermath, including the reinstatement of the Crossbell Police.
Mireille (CV: Mai Nakahara)
A female officer of the Crossbell Guardian Force, now the leader of many troops under Commander Sonya. After the annexation of Crossbell, she acted as the leader of the resistance which against the Erebonian Empire, while often thinking about Randy, who had been sent to become a teacher at the Thors Branch Academy.
Now that Randy is back, she’s secretly happy, but they still fight over petty things like usual.
Cao Lee (CV: Daisuke Hirakawa)
Publicly seen as the president of the Heiyue Trading, Ltd. Crossbell branch, he’s actually a higher-up in the Heiyue crime syndicate from Calvard. With the scales of power balance swaying between the nations due to the passing of Chancellor Osborne and the resignation of President Rocksmith, it seems that Cao is planning out the course of action for the Heiyue syndicate to take.
Renne (CV: Aoi Yuuki)
A student at the Jenis Royal Academy who is exceptionally smart, adaptable, and known for her mischievous disposition. During the incident in the Empire, she went to find her friend Tita with Estelle and Joshua, and she ended up helping Class VII and the Hexen clan. Afterwards she returned to her school life in Liberl. One day, she’s contacted by Jeorg Rosenberg and heads off to Crossbell alone for a certain purpose.
Erika Russell (CV: Satsuki Yukino)
Tita Russell’s mother, and a Zeiss Central Factory orbal engineer. She’s also the daughter of one of the most famous orbal engineers, and her sense and unique ideas are said to surpass even her fathers. She has a strong disposition and strongly dislikes Agate Crosner.
The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki will release for the PlayStation 4 in Japan and Asia on August 27, 2020.
