Indie studio Baroque Decay has announced its pixelated exploration adventure The Count Lucanor with a trailer and website. It’s also up on Steam Greenlight.

The Count Lucanor is about the trial of a boy called Hans to be granted the status in the game’s title. To do this, he has to venture through a dark and spooky castle that’s filled with horror and mystery. Luckily, Hans is able to place candles on the ground to light up his path, and bring them along with him.

But that won’t be enough to survive. Hans will also need to get clues from NPCs, hide under tables and behind curtains to avoid enemies, and use items to solve puzzles progress.

Baroque Decay says that The Count Lucanor is made to sit “halfway-between-8-and-16-bit style” and is inspired by a range of titles including The Legend of Zelda, Yume Nikki, Silent Hill, and Dark Souls.

The current plan is to get The Count Lucanor finished for 2016 and bring it to Windows, Mac, and Linux.
