Dontnod is known for story-heavy games where people make choices that influence characters’ lives and the tale, and the upcoming Tell Me Why is no different. An August 27, 2020 release date was revealed for the adventure during the July 23, 2020 Xbox Games Showcase and, after the fact, the company released a FAQ filled with some light Tell Me Why spoilers to help alleviate some concerns people might have regarding its storyline and content.
Editor’s Note: This article will not contain any of the Tell Me Why spoilers from Dontnod’s FAQs. You can read those on the official site.
The reasons for the FAQS is two-fold. One is because the hero in Tell Me Why, Tyler, is transgender. Dontnod wanted to address concerns about potential transphobia or deadnaming.
The other has to do with proper representation of indigenous communities. As this is set in Delos Crossing, a small town in Alaska, there will be Tlingit representation. In the FAQ, Dontnod said it had been working with Huna Heritage Foundation and commissioned art and work from Huna Tlingit artisans to use in the game. It also discussed the influences and input in an additional blog entry and discussed certain characters’ depictions in the FAQs.
Tell Me Why will come to the Xbox One and PC on August 27, 2020.
