Sylveon is the Fairy-type evolution of iconic Pokemon Eevee. It is nicknamed “The Intertwining Pokémon” for its habit of wrapping its feelers around the arm of its trainer as they walk together. This enables it to sense its trainer’s emotions. The character debuted in Pokemon X and Pokemon Y on the Nintendo 3DS. Eevee evolves into Sylveon when it levels up with a Fairy-type move in its skill set and high levels of affection. An August Pokemon Unite video revealed that Sylveon was on the way to the game.

Pokemon Unite is the team-based competitive game based on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. Players take control of various Pokemon, such as Blastoise. They battle it out for control of an arena, defeating wild Pokemon and collecting energy to deposit in a goal. Sylveon will join Pokemon Unite as a ranged attacker. This puts it in the company of characters like Gardevoir, Pikachu, Cramorant, and Cinderace. The trailer shows it using a skill that appears similar to Hyper Voice, a signature Sylveon move from the mainline games.

Outside of the games, Sylveon also appeared in various Pokemon animated works. The trainer Serena cared for an Eevee that evolved into Sylveon during the Pokemon XY anime series.

Pokemon Unite is immediately available on iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch. The Sylveon Pokemon Unite update arrives on October 5, 2021.
