Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment made its debut in JapanĀ on April 24th, and the game sold 145,029 copies in its first week on store shelves. Japanese sales tracker Media Create reports that the game sold through 82.58% of its shipment.

In comparison, Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment on PSP sold sold 138,180 copies in its first week, with a sell-through of 92.96%, so Hollow Fragment has debuted slightly higher than its predecessor.

According to retailers, the vast majority of people that purchased Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment were junior high school students and above. This audience overlaps with the main purchasers of the PlayStation Vita this past year.

Media Create say one can surmise that people that bought Infinity Moment have steadily switched to Hollow Fragment.
