Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was December’s best-selling title in many parts around the world so it comes as no surprise that it was top in Japanese digital sales for January 2019 with Kingdom Hearts III. This week’s issue of Famitsu shared an update with digital sales of games that sold through January 2019. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089.]
Below is the top-10 list of software that sold digitally in Japan from December 31, 2018 to January 26, 2019:
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 128,439 [Switch]
- Kingdom Hearts III – 102,054 [PS4]
- Together! The Battle Cats – 96,781 [Switch]
- Ace Combat 7 – 80,096 [PS4]
- Resident Evil 2 – 55,277 [PS4/X1]
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – 45,955 [Switch]
- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds – 36,853 [PS4]
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 31,660 [Switch]
- Super Mario Party – 24,088 [Switch]
- Minecraft – 20,787 [Switch]
What’s actually impressive here is Kingdom Hearts III with 102,054 units sold during this period, considering the game released in Japan on January 25, so all that came from its first three days alone. Together! The Battle Cats also deserves another shout out for being the only title to surpass its sales numbers from the month prior.
